HOW TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER IN 7 EASY STEPS.

Step 1: Look at the opportunities to see where you would like to help.

Step 2: Complete the online volunteer application form.

Step 3: Obtain a Police Vulnerable Sector Check. (Instructions will be emailed to you upon application.)

Step 4: Send us a copy of your approved Police Vulnerable Sector Check.

Step 5: We match you with a school.

Step 6: The School Volunteer Coordinator contacts you for an interview.

Step 7: If your interview is successful, a Volunteer Agreement form is signed by you and the teacher confirming your schedule and volunteer commitment.

NOTE: A Police Vulnerable Sector Check is required. All volunteer candidates who have lived in Canada for less than two years or have been out of Canada for more than two years are required to provide ONFE with updated Police Vulnerable Sector Checks annually until the person concerned has been in Canada for a minimum of two years. In this situation, the volunteer must be under the supervision of a teacher at all times.

The OVIE online application process takes about 15 minutes.

Before you start, you will need the names and contact information for two personal references, one of whom may be a family member.

After you complete the application form, you will receive an automatic confirmation email with instructions on how to get your Police Vulnerable Sector Check and instructions for Steps 3-7.

Please contact Anne Brouillard at [email protected] or call 613-366-3085 ext. 255 if you do not receive a confirmation notice within 24 hours after submitting your application. Thank you.
