The Orleans Wood ES Library / Makerspace Renewal Project is now underway! Since the first robots arrived at Orleans Wood in 2018, our Makerspace has evolved to meet the needs of our curious and creative students. Many components of our current library date back to the early to mid-80s when the school first opened. It's definitely time for a major update and we can't be more excited! While it's still a work in progress, we'd like to share our plans for the near future. Please click here to see a cost breakdown and potential timelines. This full floor plan shows both the library (lower level) and Makerspace (upper level). The new library furniture will maximize the use of all available space and feature many comfortable seating options for those who want to curl up with a good book. The mobile book shelves (on wheels) will allow the space to be quickly reconfigured for other learning or meeting uses. The circulation desk will provide extra workspace, a wheelchair accessible counter, and additional storage. Can you ever have enough storage? Mrs. Davis, our library technician, doesn't think so! Look at our new Makerspace flooring for the upper level. This strong, scuff resistant, easy to clean laminate will last for many years to come. All of this comes at a cost and we can't thank the Orleans Wood School Advisory Council and all the families in the OW community enough for their encouragement and support. Stay tuned for more updates about the renewal process and timelines plus additional ways to support the project! Let the construction begin!
